The Legend of Pearl

Born on the banks of the Rio Grande, Pearl Wilson would eventually become on the West’s best kept secrets. Pearl, much like her namesake, was a rare breed. Some say that as a young girl she became somewhat of a local legend among the Comanche tribe as she would accompany them for weeks at a time as they passed through the Big Bend region where Mexico and Texas meet. The desert of West Texas grew small for Pearl and she found herself riding with likes of Billy the Kid, Sam Bass, and the Fort Worth Five. Always an original, Pearl wasn’t quite like the company she kept - she saw their tragic end on the horizon and reinvented herself once again to avoid a similar fate. Where she went and what she did has never been fully known, stories passed down and scattered by those who knew her. Pearl became a legend among legends and inspired both lawmen and outlaws alike. If you get lucky, somewhere along the Rio Grande, someone might just share another clue to Legend of Pearl.

If you ever find yourself in the heart of the West’s cowboy country, don’t forget to ask if they’re also a Friend of Pearl
